Background

This was the home video division of the Religious book publisher Gospel Light.

1st Logo (1989)

Logo: On a black background, we see a big bold abstract "GL" in a closeup distance which then zooms out. Later, the "GL" turns white, along with "Gospel Light" which instantly appears next to the letters, also in white, then turning into yellow. A cheap sparkle appears above the "e", then later faints.

Technique: 2D animation.

Music/Sounds: A triumphant fanfare with an ending which lasts over ten seconds, which also includes a synth ding and arpeggio.

Availability: Ultra rare. Seen only on Rodd Christensen and Marco Palmer's Sunday Night Live.

2nd Logo (1990)

Logo: On a black background, the Gospel Light Video logo zooms in, which consists of a red semicircle with twelve light rays cut out of it and the serif text "Gospel Light Video" below it, all with a drop shadow.

Technique: Motion-controlled animation.

Music/Sounds: The closing theme.

Availability: Seen only at the end of The Donut Hole.

3rd Logo (1990-Late 1990s?)

Logo: On a blue-black gradient grainy background, we see the same print logo from above except the semicircle is yellow and the text is blue. The drop shadow remains the same but barely visible. The text then cheaply shines.

Technique: Computer animation.

Music/Sounds: A six-note tune, with seven more notes in an ascending phase, then it plays twice in a faster phase and in reverse. Sometimes it's omitted. The theme may be different by each instrument, varying on each tape.

Availability: Shown at the end of The Donut Hole 2, and on other tapes.

4th Logo (Late 1990s?-Early 2000s)

Logo: On a black background, a child-drawn book in cyan, purple, green and red is being drawn. Then, seven yellow streaks forming an arc draw in. Then, we slightly zoom towards the book as the text "Gospel Light", accompanied by white sparkles facing downward appears and zooms out, rotating into view. It flashes, and the yellow shines of the text fade in.

Variant: Another version has the sparkles and the flash omitted.

Technique: CGI.

Music/Sounds: An echoing-like fanfare with twinkling sounds.

Availability: Very rare. Seen on late tapes of the company.
