These are the logo variations seen throughout the years by IMAX Corporation, with more to be added overtime

To the Arctic (2012): Same as the trailer variant. The logo is covered in snow, and the background is snowing.


The Wizard of Oz (1939; 2013 IMAX 3D re-release): When it was re-released in IMAX 3D in 2013, it appeared with this IMAX variant in sepia tones.


The MonsterVerse:

  • Godzilla (2014): The logo shakes as though the King of the Monsters himself was approaching the theater. When "IMAX" has finished flipping towards us, the logo shakes wildly as his distinctive roar is heard.

  • Kong: Skull Island (2017): The prequel has its own visuals - the lettering resembles cracked rocks, and the camera travels across a yellow-tinted sky as we hear Kong's earth-shattering roar.



Monk Comes Down the Mountain (2015, China): The Chinese kung fu comedy Monk Comes Down the Mountain features a Chinese IMAX intro involving a trip across and over a moonlit mountain range.


Furious 7 (2015): "PREPARE... TO... BELIEVE" is changed to "START... YOUR... ENGINES", and the whole logo is more colorful and meant to evoke a street racing atmosphere. The numbers after 8 are in the "Fast & Furious" font, the 5 shatters to reveal "EARTH SHATTERING SOUND", and gunshots impact the text "THE ULTIMATE MOVIE EXPERIENCE."


Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015): The opening text reads "PREPARE... TO GO... ROGUE" as the opening countdown slowly turns red. At 8, a fuse ignites as we move through a red tunnel with the fuse, which is a reference to the opening credits from the TV series. The numbers are also red and in a different font than before. Fire is seen at "MIND BLOWING IMAGES", the next 2 phrases appear in manners similar to the Furious 7 variant, and the 4 spins around as we zoom past it. The text "WATCH A MOVIE... OR BE PART OF ONE" appear inside the tunnel rather than at the end of it. After passing the text, we quickly zoom to the end of the tunnel to catch up with the fuse, which is now swirling around the 3 rings and towards the IMAX logo. We zoom past the rings as the fuse heads to the logo, causing it to explode into pieces of glass that quickly scatter off-screen; some of the glass shards zoom past us. The DLP logo is revealed after the explosion.


Sully (2016): The logo features a "filmed with IMAX cameras" version. It has a dark starfield background and shows off the expanded film frame size.


Suicide Squad (2016): The film received a custom countdown that travels through Arkham Asylum down the streets of Gotham and ends with the Joker's laugh over the IMAX logo.


L.O.R.D: Legend of Ravaging Dynasties (2016, China) : As China's first motion-capture film, the statements are in Chinese and the logo features the powers/heroes of the film, as seen here.


Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017): The scenery is themed in red and blue and web is being shot everywhere.


Blade Runner 2049 (2017): The text has a digital look throughout and the camera travels down the city.
