Ion Storm was a game developer formed under the wing of Eidos Interactive in 1996. The first office was based in Dallas, Texas and led by John Romero and Tom Hall. Their progress was notorious for release delays and extensive money shedding, which almost drove Eidos into the grave. The division was closed in 2001. The second office in Austin was led by Warren Spector and produced the much more successful game Deus Ex. This studio survived until 2005, when it too was closed for financial troubles.
1st Logo (June 23, 2000-2001)
Logo: A big sphere zooms to the screen, partially covered with metal. Several holes are seen on it. Green matter begins to beam from the holes, until the whole sphere is covered in light, then it blows, leaving the green spherical Ion Storm logo.
Variant: On Anachronox, the logo just bumps off the screen.
Technique: CGI animation.
Music/Sounds: Beaming and steaming sounds.
Availability: Appeared on Deus Ex and other games.
