Background

The Niigata Television Network 21, Inc. (UX, callsigns JOUX-DTV) is a Japanese television station serving Niigata Prefecture as an affiliate of the TV Asahi-run All-Nippon News Network, based in Niigata.

1st ID (October 1, 1983-July 31, 2006)


Visuals:

  • Startup: There is the 1983 NT21 logo, consisting of the number 21 in red with the word "NT" in yellow in the middle and the text "新潟テレビ21" at the bottom as it zooms out from a sunny sky before the camera transitions into another sky shot while the callsign "JOUX-TV" appears before fading to reveal the station information. After that, shots of Niigata beaches, nature as well as human life can be seen as the plane traverses throughout the prefecture.
  • Closedown: The 1983 NT21 logo later zooms out as the camera fades into a show of the plane as the camera later fades into shots of Niigata from the opening before later fading to the beach, now during sunset hours as after some shots, the callsign "JOUX-TV" appears as it fades out to reveal the station information before fading to a blue space-like background as the 1983 NT21 logo forms itself.

Technique: A mix of live-action footage with CGI.

Audio: The station's theme, "Itoshi no Kyasarin", performed by CoCo.

2nd ID (August 1, 2006-December 31, 2007)


Visuals: On a white background, there is the 2006 UX symbol, now consisting of the letters U and X in red as they interconnect before transitioning into a multicolored art background before moving to the right as the UX symbol forms again before moving to the right once more to reveal the UX symbol as it forms from the right with the words "JOUX-TV" (analog) or "JOUX-DTV" (digital) and the words "新潟テレビ21" on stacked together on the top left.

Technique: Digital traditional animation.

'Audio: A majestic electronic fanfare.

3rd ID (January 1, 2008-)


Visuals: The 2006 UX symbol appears on a white background before fading to some shots of Niigata plant life and human life as lyrics for the station's then-new official theme song appears as the camera fades into more footage of Niigata. After that, the camera fades to a shot of a beach in Niigata as the words "JOUX-TV, 新潟テレビ21アナログ放送 " (analog) or "JOUX-DTV, 新潟テレビ21デジタル放送", stacked together appears before fading to another shot of a fly, a mallard and and some birds as the last few verses of UX's theme song play out before fading to white as the last line of the song plays out as the words "YOU & ME &" appear in red with the 2006 UX symbol appearing on the bottom of the words on a white background.

Technique: A mix of live-action footage with digital traditional animation.

Audio: The station's theme, "Egao no tsunagari ~YOU&ME&UX", performed by Maki Kimura.
