Background

Jornal da Cultura ("Culture News" in English) is a long-running Brazilian TV program currently running on TV Cultura. It first aired on 29 December 1986 under the direction of Hamilton Tramontá. Currently, the program is hosted by the Brazilian TV Host Willian Corrêa. On the normal schedule, the TV Program runs everyday except for weekends.

1st Intro (1986-1988)

Visuals: Over a black & white gradient background, there is a spinning silver cel globe. A 3D silver rectangle zooms out, and fills up. Two horizontal bars wipe onto the rectangle, and the black text "JORNAL DA" with a white shadow behing fade in above the bars. The white word "CULTURA" zooms out below, and two olive bars slide in from the left & right, filling up the missing bars, as the text "JORNAL DA" turns white.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: A mellow fast-paced synth theme.

2nd Intro (1988-1989)

Visuals: Over a footage of Carlos Nascimento getting ready for the TV program, a white segmented sphere flies out from the above to the white cube, them connecting and going into the lower-right corner, as the blue stacked text "JORNAL DA CULTURA" zoom in and the white caption "COM CARLOS NASCIMENTO" appear below.

Technique: Live-action and CGI.

Audio: A majestic fanfare.

3rd Intro (1989-1991)

Visuals: On a black & blue gradient background, a segmented white sphere zooms out to the white cube, them connecting and going on the right side. The white CGI text "JORNAL DA CULTURA" zooms out.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A slightly rearranged version of the previous intro's fanfare.

4th Intro (1991-1999)

Visuals: On a blue & black gradient background, many flattened silver rectangles rotate and connect a segmented cube. A white sphere flies through it, making a segmented hole, while the silver text "JORNAL DA CULTURA" flies in and tilts with the segmented cube.

Variants: In the 60 Minutos variant, after a sphere creates a hole, it comes back as the segmented cube goes to the upper-left corner. A white number 6 comes out of the sphere, and the name "JORNAL DA CULTURA" fades in above. The sphere partly fills up with a clockwise effect.

Technique: CGI.

Audio:

• 1991: A dramatic upbeat piano and synth tune.
• 1991-1993: A mellow synth jingle with a whoosh.
• 1993-1999: An upbeat synth piano theme with a laser zap.
• 60 Minutos: An upbeat rock tune.

5th Intro (1999-2000)

Visuals: Over a shot of live-action clips, the white text "jornal da" in a silver circle bar and "CULTURA" in a black circle bar slide in from the left & right. A segmented silver circle wipes in afterwards.

Technique: Live-action and 2D computer animation.

Audio: A fast-paced piano tune.

6th Intro (2000-2002)

Visuals: There is many live-action clips with some bars moving, with the text "MUNDO POLITIO" (with the globe replacing the first "O"). A white globe with a black landmass zooms out, and the bars reveal a black bar with the black word "JORNAL" on them and "da CULTURA" with a white shadow. The globe stops at the South America map, and gets superimprosed on the black square. Red and black lines can be seen above and below, respectively.

Technique: Live-action and CGI.

Audio: An orchestral fanfare.

7th Intro (2002-2004)

Visuals: Over a tan background, a tan globe with a brown landmass spins and a red line sping around it. As it stops and forms a red letter "J" with letter's upper side extended, the white text "ornal da cultura" appears letter by letter.

Technique: CGI and 2D computer animation.

Audio: Same as before.

8th Intro (2004-2006)

Visuals: Over a tan background, the logo starts with many footages of a blue spinning globe on a white background. After they morph, the white word "JORNALISMO" with a black outline slides in from the right letter by letter and "PUBLICO" with spaced out letters flips in letter by letter. Afterwards, the logo does the same animation as before.

Technique: CGI and 2D computer animation.

Audio: A fast-paced upbeat woodwind jingle.

9th Intro (2006-2007)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a blue globe with a white outlined landmass spinning (another globe slightly can be seen spinning faster), as the white portuguese words with three slashes appear at various sides. The globe zooms out as the stacked silver text "Jornal da CULTURA" does it.

Variants: Sometimes, "CULTURA Meio-Dia" or "CULTURA Noite" may zoom out instead.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: An upbeat synth fanfare.

10th Intro (2007-2008)

Visuals: Over a colorful moving squares to left & right with people mouths talking on them and program's name next to them, the black text "JORNAL DA CULTURA" slides in word by word from left & right.

Technique: Live-action and 2D computer animation.

Audio: An upbeat piano and synth theme.

11th Intro (2008-2010)

Visuals: Many green & white bars slide and zoom in, as the green CGI globe zooms in. The bars reveal a green landmass at the right side, and some countries start sending signals. As this happens, a green globe stops and get superimprosed on a bar with green lines in the left side of the bar. The text "JORNAL da CULTURA" in various green fonts with the word "da" being in a green circle, wipes in, as the white background is being revealed.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: An upbeat flute, horn and piano theme.

12th Intro (2010)

Visuals: On a white background, there is a globe with a green-ish landmass spinning as the CGI green curved lines draw in with some arrows in them. After a few shots of the globe and lines, a globe goes to the upper-left corner, and some lines reveal the green text "JORNAL CULTURA" with a grey cube. The shape spins and reveals a white TV Cultura logo, which does the same action in the white word "DA"

Technique: CGI.

Audio: An upbeat fast-paced flute and synth theme.

13th Intro (2011-2013)

Visuals: There are many orange-ish bars, with some of them revealing a globe and many news-related words in white. Afterwards, many bars slide in from the left with a part of the globe superimprosed on them. Some news-related words in white wipe in at various bars, and the bars fly off-screen to reveal a globe with the text "JORNAL DA CULTURA" (with the word "DA" in a red square) in white next to it.

Variants:

• On the Saturday edition, white words "EDIÇÃO DE SÁBADO" can be revealed.
• Sometimes, a white word "INFORMA" is revealed on a red bar.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: An upbeat beep tune, followed by a 3-note electric guitar.

14th Intro (2013-2017)

Visuals: Over a yellow gradient background, many silver diagonal bars cross and reveal a silver TV Cultura logo spinning, as a light on it reveals a silver segmented sphere. The blue letters "JC" along with "JORNAL DA CULTURA" in black, wipe in as the white bars with many white polygons occur.

Variants: On debates, the logo and black word "DEBATE" reveal themselves with a segmented sphere slightly seen on the background.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A 13-note violin tune.

15th Intro (2017-2019)

Visuals: Over a shots of a spinning globe with signals sending from various directions, white bars cross themselves and reveal a city background with silver letters "JC" zoom out. The text "JORNAL DA CULTURA" fades in and zooms out letter by letter, while some bars fade in below.

Variants: On the Saturday edition, the white phrase "EDIÇÃO DE SÁBADO" wipe in next to the logo.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: An upbeat consisting of 3 dings, followed by the jingle from the previous logo.

16th Intro (2019-)

Visuals: On a white background with a blue globe on the left, a blue cube with a white TV Cultura logo zooms in along with other blue and white squares, revealing a blue gradient background. In there, a cube spins and reveals the white monogram "JC" in it. Some white bar wipes in and reveals the black text "JORNAL DA CULTURA" in it with the program's address in white below in a blue bar. The cube spins back and reveals the white TV Cultura logo.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A fast-paced violin tune along with a majestic fanfare.
