Background
LeapFrog Enterprises is an American educational entertainment and electronics toy company founded in 1994 it was owned by VTech.
1st Logo (December 9, 2003-September 20, 2005)
Visuals: On a mint gradient background, there is a white circle with a green outline, with the then-current LeapFrog logo (a green square with the stacked words "LEAP FROG" on it) in the center. A cartoon frog wearing a striped jacket hops into view while the company's then-current slogan, "Learn Something New Every Day", fades in below. The frog hops onto the logo in the circle, tilting the square to the left and leaving a dotted trail as it freezes into place, and the circle shines.
Trivia: The frog seen here would make many cameo appearances in the videos in which this logo was used on, most notably Letter Factory.
Technique: 2D animation.
Audio:
- At the end of LeapFrog trailers at the time, there is the theme of the trailer and a male announcer says "[movie title]! From LeapFrog. Learn something new every day."
- At the beginning of LeapFrog videos, it's silent.
- At the end of LeapFrog videos, a woman says the tagline from the trailer variant.
- Sometimes, the music in the logo is the instrumental of the Letter Factory song "Every Letter Makes a Sound".
Availability: Seen on LeapFrog edutainment videos from the time, including Letter Factory. It was also seen at the end of LeapFrog commercials as well.
2nd Logo (September 20, 2005-August 18, 2009)
Visuals: Over a white background, the then-new LeapFrog logo ("LEAP FROG", in the same font as before, inside a lime green outline of a circle) spins and zooms in, while a URL bounces moves from right to the middle at the bottom.
Variants:
- At the end of Learn to Read at the Storybook Factory, there are a lot of LeapFrog products zooming out slowly, then the logo closes and the URL appears. This only appears on the original Warner Home Video release. The Lionsgate release uses the same below.
- On A Tad of Christmas Cheer, the Leapfrog logo instead fades in. Copyright information is shown.
Technique: 2D animation.
Audio: None.
Availability: Seen on Learn to Read at the Storybook Factory and A Tad of Christmas Cheer.
3rd Logo (August 18, 2009-September 8, 2011)
Visuals: On a white background, a green-outlined circle bounces with the word "LeapFrog" in it. Then it bounces, and leaps away.
Technique: 2D animation.
Audio: Boing noises.
Availability: Seen on LeapFrog videos from the era, including Sing and Learn with Us. It also appears when one starts up a Leapster2.
4th Logo (September 8, 2011-January 22, 2013)
Visuals: Over a green gradient background, the LeapFrog logo zooms in and protrudes outwards, causing a lime green ring to emerge from it, before settling into place. Then, several different symbols fly out of the logo (including the letters A, B, and C, the numbers 2 and 3, a square, circle and triangle, and two eighth notes). When the symbols are off-screen, the logo "pulsates" again.
Technique: 2D animation.
Audio: A happy theme.
Availability: This appears on Scout and Friends DVDs, ending with Adventures in Shapeville Park. This also plasters the first logo on some 2003 releases.
5th Logo (January 29, 2014-)
Visuals: On a green background, the LeapFrog logo appears, and it goes left, revealing the text "Pure Learning Fun".
Variant: On DVD trailers, the logo is big and in the middle, and the text is at the bottom and is shrunk. The logo is also still and already formed.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: A five-note theme, ending with a "ding". The instruments vary depending on the video.
Audio Trivia: The five-note theme originated as a startup theme on the original LeapPad from 1999. However, it became the corporate jingle in 2008.
Availability: Seen on Letter Factory Adventures videos.
