1st Test Card (January 1st, 1993-1993)

Visuals: The Telefunken FuBK test card, with the letters "YLE TV3" attached to the black section.

Audio: Background audio from the YLE Radio Suomi station is heard playing.

Availability:

  • This was usually seen after the morning's final program before the evening's first program.
  • On Thursdays, it was only visible for a few minutes before the beginning of the broadcast.
  • On Tuesdays, MTV3 didn't air the test card for the entirety of Finland, but rather, only in the most southern parts of Finland.

2nd Test Card (1993-March 11th, 2004)

Special Variants: Some counties would use a variation of this test card with a different font that says "MTV3 - (County)". The following bullet points are a list as to which versions of this variant exist.

  • For Oulu's county, the text "MTV3 - Oulun lääni" is seen.
  • For the North Karelian county, the text "MTV3 - Savo/Pohjois-Karjala" appears.
  • For the Pirkanmaa county, "MTV3 - Pirkanmaa" is seen.
  • For the Ostrobothnian county, the text "MTV3 - Pohjanmaa" is visible.

Audio: Usually, the YLE Radio Suomi station is heard playing. In some cases, however, you can hear a beeping noise. After 1997, the background audio changed to Radio Nova's station.

Availability:

  • The regular test card always appeared a few minutes before programming started.
  • The special variants were only seen in specific counties only during long breaks in programming. These were specifically seen after the morning's final program was, up until the beginning of the evening's programming.
  • After January 3rd, 2000, the daytime appearances ended when MTV3 WEB started airing.
  • On December 13th, 2000, the filler program MTV3 Chat would replace the test card completely. Since then, the test card had rare appearances. The last known appearance was on March 11th, 2004.
