Background

Moambe is the headline news show of the Georgian First Channel.

1st Logo (1971-1983)

Logo: Over a black background with what appears to be 4 satellites spinning on the left side, we see Georgian text “საინფორმაციო ჰროგრამა” (News program) rise up 3 times (the first being in a simple font, the second in a more stylised font with the top text in an arc and a film canister in the middle and the 3rd being in a cursive-esque font) with მოამბე (Moambe) zooming in twice. After that, a compass appears above the satellites with the same “News program” text in a curve (საინფორმაციო at the top; ჰროგრამა at the bottom), forming an oval in the middle, where Moambe (in Georgian) zooms in the middle of the text, along with an oval fading around it. The Georgian “News program” text and compass fades away and company name descends a bit.

Technique: Rostrum camera and cel animation.

Music/Sounds: A quiet “whistling” sound, along with an eerie seven-note jingle, which loops 3 times.

Availability: Extinct, was only seen on the channel's news openings of the time.

2nd Logo (1978-1986)

Logo: A "მ" shape flips over a blue background with a sphere in the middle. As it does, the sphere flips inside of it, and the logo flips again to reveal a rectangle with the company name with "ჰროგრამა" at the top and some more Georgian text fading in below.

Technique: Simple animation consisting of flipping and fading.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Extinct.

3rd Logo (1986-1991)

Logo: The same sphere from the last logo is seen spinning on the top-right corner. 2 red lines are then seen crossing the sphere with a small gap in between them as a white მ fades in over the globe, leaving a faded white stroke behind it between the lines. Georgian text fades in on an individual line and the company name in gold zooms in and shines.

Technique: 2D animation.

Music/Sounds: A light majestic fanfare.

Availability: Extinct.

4th Logo (1991-1997)

Logo: On a pink background, we see a golden globe with vertical spinning "rings". The company name fades in alongside Georgian text sliding at the bottom.

Technique: A mix of live-action and text animation.

Music/Sounds: Same as before.

Availability: Extinct.

5th Logo (2001-2004)

Logo: A digital globe with grids is seen spinning as multiple lines draw themselves, alongside squares. In each of the squares are different shots of the globe. Some Georgian text appears as the globe in the background moves. Simultaneously, the company name zooms out and turns gold as it shines and Georgian text is seen below and a gold line draws itself in between.

Technique: CGI animation.

Music/Sounds: A news-opening tune.

Availability: Extinct.

6th Logo (2007-2008)

Logo: We see a clock zoom out with the minute arm slowly turning. Once it stops (marking 8:00), we zoom into the arm and then the camera turns to see a metallic sphere zooming out through multiple white and green rings. The camera turns once again to see all the continents appearing. It then zooms out and is seen in a sphere shape as the same sphere seen earlier also zooms out inside of it (with the continents on it). It gets encased in a light grey sphere with the continents still visible, and the camera zooms around it to see more rings around the globe before zooming out as the globe settles on a grey line with the company name on it sandwiched by 2 smaller Georgian text.

Technique: CGI animation.

Music/Sounds: Another news-esque tune.

Availability: Extinct.
