Moffitt-Lee Productions

Background

This was the vanity card of John Moffitt and Pat Tourk Lee. While the company started in 1989, no on-screen logo was introduced until 1992.

1st Logo (July 19, 1992-2011)

Visuals: In a empty gray room, a plastic wind-up toy is seen walking towards the screen. The toy is a red TV with white arms, yellow legs, and a white pair of antennas. The toy is holding its own plug, and has something written on its screen. As it walks, the plug-holding arm moves back and forth while the antennas sway from side-to-side. The camera quickly zooms in to reveal that the words "moffitt-lee productions" are seen on its screen. The TV keeps walking forwards.

Variants:

A still version exists with the robot already close to the screen starting in 2003.
Later shows have a true 16:9 resolution, and the picture is remade.

Technique: Live-action.

Audio:

1992-1999: The sounds of the wind-up motor.
1999-2011: A rhythmic series of whirring noises, similar to the wind-up motor.
Sometimes, it's the closing theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on the first four seasons of the 1998 version of Hollywood Squares. It also appears on at least three 1992 episodes of HBO's One Night Stand (Colin Quinn, DL Hughley, and Ellen DeGeneres), This Just In, Tracy Morgan: Black and Blue, and Talking Funny.

2nd Logo (1993-1994)

Visuals: On a light blue/dark blue striped background, 4 white-brown gradient leaf-like objects rotate in one-by-one forming a "m" with the last one forming a "l". After that, the words "moffitt-lee productions" (in the same font as the previous logo) appears wiping in from the left, and a sparkle appears on the "s".

Technique: 2D computer animation by WunderFilm.

Audio: The ending theme of the show, or a heroic-sounding orchestral tune composed by Ray Colcord.

Availability: It appeared on 50 Years of Soaps: An All-Star Celebration in 1994, but another sighting was spotted on an unknown special in 1993.
