More4

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

1st ID (10 October 2005-23 January 2012)

Visuals: The logo starts with circles in various shades of green turning into round-edged lines and moving from right to left (and vice versa). Later, the logo is formed as the round-edged lines move up and down.

Variants: For the 25th anniversary of Channel 4 and the US Election 2008 Season, both the colors and the music has been changed.

Technique: 2D computer animation by Spin and DBLG.

Audio: An acoustic upbeat tune.

2nd ID (23 January 2012-)

Visuals: At a typical location (such as a tree in the park, a beach or a cafe), a set of triangles that match the color's logo (representing it as "The Digital Scrapbook") flips repeatedly, which moves the camera or changes the camera angles. After that, the on-screen logo is displayed.

Trivia: Like 4seven's idents and Film4's current idents, this was created by ManvsMachine, alongside with 4Creative, Jason Bruges Studios and one of the students from the Product Design course at Middlesex University. This set of idents also introduced The Digital Scrapbook, which encourages viewers to collect, organise, share, discover and 'form deeper relationships' with Channel 4's factual content and its talent.'

Variants:

  • In early 2013, a pop-up version of the logo was introduced.
  • On 27 September 2018, the on-screen logo was changed to closer resemble the main Channel 4 logo, with "More" in multicolor implemented into the "4".

Technique: A mix of live-action and practical CGI.

Audio: Like before, an acoustic upbeat tune is also used, but this depends on the logo's setting itself.
