Background
Multifilm was founded by filmmaker J.C. Mol in 1924 as the Bureau voor Wetenschappelijke (Fotografie en) Kinematografie. The company produced scientific films specifically those involving microscopic footage. In 1927, the name was changed to Multifilm and the company moved to Haarlem. Prior to the Second World War, Multifilm produced many scientific films. In the late 1930s, the company set up the Multifilm-Batavia branch in the Dutch East Indies.
