Background

The Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, commonly known as NTT, is a Japanese telecommunications company headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. The company provides telephone, internet network and digital television services and also owns the national mobile carrier NTT DoCoMo.

1st Logo (1988)


Logo: On a blue background, we see lights shining and forming a blue metallic pretzel shape. The background fades to white as the pretzel shape turns solid blue and "NTT" in black is revealed below.

Technique: Probably motion controlled animation.

Music/Sounds: A synthesized 4-note jingle.

Availability: Seen on commercials from the time period.


2nd Logo (1989-1992)


Logo: On a white background, we see a 3D line which then forms the shape from the previous logo. On top of the shape, we see a Japanese slogan and on the bottom of it, we also see the NTT wordmark in black.

Technique: CGI and 2D animation.

Music/Sounds: A 4-note synth theme, and a female voice saying the company name.

Availability: Seen on commercials from the time period.
