Background

Port Huron Schools Television (also known as PHS-TV The Wave or simply PHS-TV) is the Port Huron Schools district's television station based in Port Huron, Michigan. Its previous incarnation, CPHS-6, retitled to this name in the summer of 2015.

1st Logo (placeholder logo) (August 17-October, 2015)

• 

Logo: A light burst unveils a zooming, hot pink room with a light blue-pink stage. While coming closer to the stage, the 3D text "PORT HURON SCHOOLS TELEVISION" flips in and zooms out from the left. The camera slowly tilts before rapidly zooming in and flashing the screen to white.

Technique: Basic CGI animation.

Music/Sounds: An electronic burst that segues into an orchestral hit note with a reverse reverb. It ends with a whoosh.

Availability: Extremely rare, as this was likely a placeholder as evident by its very short lifespan. It was only seen on an August 17th football match between Port Huron Northern and Lake Shore.

2nd Logo (October 19, 2015-December 20, 2016)

Opening Logo: On a water background with a dodger blue-white sky, the logo wipes in: three curved dark blue wave outlines with the text "Port Huron Schools presents: The Wave ONLINE • TV • RADIO" underneath it. After a few seconds, the logo wipes out.

Closing Logo: Same as the opening logo except Port Huron Schools' website and copyright info are added underneath.

Variants:

• An early animation for the logo has it fade in and deblur.
• On an October 27, 2015 football match between Holland Woods and Fort Gratiot, the copyright notice appears early, albeit on the end title card of the program.
• On the 2015 Fall "Spooktacular" concert, the program flashes to the logo with it already formed excluding the bottom text.
• On the Hour of Code shorts, the closing logo slides from the left.
• In late 2016, the logo was slightly lowered and the website link is bolded.S

Technique: The water background and the logo wiping in.

Music/Sounds: The sound of waves crashing.

Music/Sounds Variants:

• In its earliest month, a somber violin tune with scattered piano notes is heard
• Another early version of its soundtrack has it either in silence or has the opening/closing of the program play over.

Availability: Common. Like with the 6th-8th CPHS-6 logos, it often appears at the end of sports broadcasts, concerts, special events, etc. Additionally, they can be found through the channel's social media on YouTube and Vimeo. However, it was less used in early 2016; most specials fade to black or start and end with their own title cards.

• Unlike last time, school board meetings do not use this logo as well as elementary school specials such as the MLK Day 2016 ones at Crull Elementary. However, it does appear at the end of the Stuff the Bus shorts.
• The opening variant was only used in 2015 programs such as the 2015 Winter Majesty Concert and a December 8th Girls Varsity basketball match between Port Huron and Port Huron Northern.
• The last program to use this logo was the 2016 Port Huron Northern Winter Wonderland concert.

3rd Logo (January 6-December 20, 2017)

Logo: On a white background with a bright light in the center, several blocky, gray pieces form the logo while it rotates and zoom out. After that, the copyright info forms with each letter fading in and sliding to their positions. Not long after, the logo quickly zooms in.

Technique: CGI animation.

Music/Sounds: The same wave crashing sounds from before but with a whoosh added at the end.

Availability: Fairly common, despite it only lasting for a full year. Was seen on the same material that were released in 2017, starting with a January 6th basketball match between Port Huron Northern Vs Saint Clair and ending with the Central Middle School Holiday Band Concert. This also includes board meetings that were held said year.

4th Logo (January 12, 2018-December 17, 2020)

Logo: On a dark water surface with several small light sparks around, the print logo rises from the water and floats, followed by the copyright notice.

Variant: On a January 7, 2020 hockey match between Port Huron Northern High School and Brother Rice High School, the logo is blacked out with only the audio present.

Technique: CGI animation.

Music/Sounds: A soothing tune consisting of ascending chimes accompanied with water flowing.

Music/Sounds Variant: On the Early Childhood Center ribbon cutting ceremony, the soundtrack is low-pitched.

Availability: Common. Like before, it appeared on most programs from this period ranging from the same material such as sports and concert events to special events and many short videos including "Mr. Cook’s Class Makes The Morning Announcements Fun and Interactive" and "The Giving Tree with Superintendent Jamie Cain". It debuted on a January 12th basketball match between Port Huron High and Port Huron Northern and last appeared on the video "Literacy Academy at Cleveland - Family Literacy Night".

5th Logo (December 31, 2020-)

Logo: On a baby blue background with a white spotlight in the top center, we see a water stream in a loop flowing to the right as the ring falls apart and all the water is being sucked off-screen. The last remaining water droplets reveal the same logo from before slowly zooming in while the copyright notice fades in below.

Technique: CGI animation for the water; 2D animation for the logo fading and zooming in.

Music/Sounds: A relaxing and fast-paced string jingle with water flowing being heard.

Availability: Current. Appears on many recent programs over the course of two years beginning with the video "Learning Labs at Port Huron Schools". Some 2021 graduation ceremonies, however, don't have this logo while others such as Phoenix Academy, Harrison Center, and Keewahdin Elementary does. Plus, school board meetings didn't begin using this logo until September 20, 2021.
