In 2008, Starz Media reverted back Starz Home Entertainment to their former name of Anchor Bay Entertainment. In March 2011, The Weinstein Company purchased 25% of Starz Media, including Anchor Bay. On June 30, 2016, Lionsgate reached an agreement with Starz to acquire the company for $4.4 billion; the merger was completed on December 8. On August 29, 2017, Anchor Bay was folded into Lionsgate's home media division. From August 30, 2017 to 2021, Anchor Bay's website remained online, but with all the links broken. Anchor Bay was revived on February 15, 2024, when Umbrelic Entertainment co-founders Thomas Zambeck and Brian Katz acquired the rights to the Anchor Bay name.
