Background

Quad Cinema is a New York City-based theater established by Maurice Kanbar and his brother Elliot in October 1972. It has gained notability as being one of the oldest independent cinemas in New York City and, according to Kanbar, "the East Coast's first multiplex".

Trailer (August 30, 2024-)

Visuals: The screen zooms out of the entrance to a Quad Cinema theater located within a gray apartment building with a taxi containing an alternate Quad Cinema logo (QUAD" with a layered line effect on its upper half on top of "CINEMA") passing by it. Zooming out further, it is shown this is part of a film set as evidenced by the director's chair and studio lighting. At this point, "FEATURE PRESENTATION", with the former in red, appears on the top of the room alongside red and light gray light beams trailing toward the screen. The last setting is a movie theater auditorium in a red-black-white color scheme. By the time the screen stops zooming out, "QUAD", in a thin rigid white font, quickly bursts out of the film screen and zooms towards the camera before stopping, showing a transparent RGB effect around it. The background fades to black, "QUAD" backs away, and its blur spreads out.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A synthesized new age soundtrack with a chord held throughout and a deep arpeggio. The beginning features the motor from the taxi and descending, high-pitched warbling sounds. The end has an echoed, unintelligible robotic voice.

Availability: The logo is seen on Quad Cinema screenings of The Wasp.
