Logo (1973-March 17, 1986)

Visuals: An outlined graphic of a crane leaning forwards and bending slightly downwards is shown next to "RSPB FILM", with the latter word slightly smaller than the former.

Variants:

  • The wording of the text may change, which may include it reading "AN RSPB FILM", "RSPB FILM UNIT", or just "RSPB".
  • The font of "FILM" may change, in addition to being lowercase.
  • The alignment of the crane in relation to the text may change, sometimes vertically or in between two words.
  • In the logo's later years, it is placed on a blue background.
  • In some cases, the crane and "RSPB" text are placed within the copyright notice.
  • At the end of The Titmice, the crane is absent.

Technique: A still, printed image.

Audio: None or the closing theme of the film.

Availability: The logo is seen on short nature educational British films from the 70's and 80's such as After the Harvest, Flying Birds, Round Robin, and Kingfisher - Secret Splendour of the Brooks/Short Eared Owl, the latter of which has this logo intact on its 1989 BBC Video release. The blue background variant appears on films from the mid 1980's such as The Titmice and The Shadow Of The Plough.
