Background

Rainbow Network was a very short lived pirate television channel in Leiden, the Netherlands. The channel started broadcasting in September 1981, and was shut down in December of that same year. The channel only broadcast on weekends, after WDR or BRT had signed off, using the same method of "breaking in" as PTV Leiden.

ID (September 26-December 1981)

Visuals: On a white background is a rainbow consisting of four colours: red, gold, green, and blue. The text "KANAAL 48" is shown on the top left section of the screen and below the rainbow's arch is the text "RAINBOW NETWORK".

Technique: A still graphic.

Audio: Supposedly, the theme from S.W.A.T. by Rhythm Heritage.

Availability: It supposedly appears on an archived BETAMAX tape, however, the alleged owner has only uploaded what they call a "digitally cleaned and reworked" version. This image comes from a photo from the channel seen on Leidse Piraten Archief.
