Background

Rayant Pictures Ltd. was a British film studio led by William Pollard.

Logo (February 1, 1948-June 1, 1951)

Visuals: Fading in, there is a silhouette of an eagle model on a platform against a rapidly rising smoky backdrop. A light source illuminates the model, revealing all of its details: the eagle, while looking upwards, is gripping its claws onto a black triangle with a white border that contains a chiseled blocky "RAYANT". The black rectangle with a white border is shown underneath the triangle, displaying "PICTURES LTD." in white with two tiny rhombi on both ends of the rectangle. All of the elements appear to be on top of a black platform.

Closing Visuals:

  • Early version: the print version of the logo, with all of the described details still being there, is shown against a gray background while the superimposed credits play on the background.
  • Later version: The light illuminating the eagle model becomes dimmer while "THE END" in serif along with the distribution notice fades in front of the model as it becomes a silhouette.

Technique: Practical effects.

Audio: A heroic brass fanfare.

Audio Variants: On Spotlight on the Highlands, a shorter, low-pitched version was used that starts with a drumroll.

Availability: Was so far seen in Spotlight on the Highlands, Lock Your Door, The Reformation of St Jules, Spotlight on Wales, and Spotlight at the Fair, along with other short films produced by the company.
