Background

Recorded Picture Company is a film company founded in 1974 by Jeremy Thomas that distributes independent features. The company is more director-driven and has close relationships with many directors.

1st Logo (June 16, 1978-1990's)


Visuals: On a black background, there are three uppercase letters, R, P, and C, in a written font. Underneath each letter is "RECORDED", "PICTURE", and "COMPANY", all in green.

Technique: None.

Audio: None.

Availability: Could be seen on theatrical prints of films from this era.

2nd Logo (1990's)


Visuals: The three letters from the previous logo are shown on a black background. The company's full name, following the same structure as last time, is seen being typed letter by letter with the words now in a different font as well as in a greener hue.

Technique: The words typing in.

Audio: None.

Availability: Same as the previous logo.

3rd Logo (Late 1990's-)


Visuals: In this logo, the same letters as before are being written on a black background. Shortly after, a turquoise rectangle is seen typing the company's full name with the words structured the same as previously. Finally, the logo squishes and disappears.

Technique: The letters being written, the words typing in, and the logo getting squished.

Audio: None.

Availability: It can be seen on Don Hemingway and First Love.
