Background

S Pictures is a Tamil-language film company founded by director S. Shankar.

1st Logo (November 7, 1999)

Visuals: On a black background, a curvy street road is revealed as the camera navigates through it, with multiple street lamps shown. The light from the camera, in a cyan shade, becomes more brighter, revealing filmstrip holes at the sides of the road, before the background changes to a blue sky with clouds and the road transforms into a rainbow. Multiple butterflies come out from the rainbow before the screen fades to another take, where the rainbow trail forms an "S" at the center. A flash occurs, changing the background to black and the "S" to a 3D object in a bright blue color with a yellow outline. The green-yellow word "F I L M S" in a serif typeface then zooms out at the front of the S, and a flare appears glowing at the upper right corner of it.

Technique: CGI animation.

Audio: A drum and bass beat that turns into Tamil chanting, with chimes heard near the end.

Availability: The logo can be seen in Mudhalvan.

2nd Logo (December 17, 2004-2006?)

Visuals: The logo starts with a shot of a beating heart over a black background with foggy lights, and multiple green-colored veins are shown connected to it. The camera then zooms out and pans upwards, revealing a bright purple extension that branches out into a mechanical-looking group of conch shells with gears spinning behind them, and it's soon revealed that yellow lights are emerging from the top of the machine, forming an "S", which then moves back and solidifies into a golden material, while the white "PICTURES" in a serif typeface fades in at the front of it.

Technique: CGI animation.

Audio: A rising orchestral theme, which comes from a piece of production music from the "Scoring Tools" EastWest CD (also used on the CJ Entertainment logo and 2001 Nine Network ID). Heartbeat sounds and a swoosh are also heard.

Availability: The logo can be seen in Kadhal and Imsai Arasan 23rd Pulikecei.
