Sandollar Productions (2019-present)

Background

Sandollar Productions is the production company that was originally formed in 1985 by manager Sandy Gallin and actress/singer Dolly Parton. Among the first works they produced was A Smoky Mountain Christmas. Sandollar later created a TV subsidiary, Sandollar Television, to produce TV productions. its biggest hits include Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. In 1998, Gallin retired, with the company becoming Southern Light Productions, although the Sandollar brand continued to be used on Buffy-related media. In 2015, the company became Dixie Pixie Productions to produce made-for-TV movies, and in 2019, it went back to the original Sandollar moniker.

Sandollar

1st Logo (December 14, 1986)

Logo: On a black background, the words "Sandollar" in a fancy font is written out on screen. After being written, the words "shine" for a few seconds, and the text "PRODUCTIONS, INCORPORATED" in white fades in.

Technique: Cel animation.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Seen on the TV movie A Smoky Mountain Christmas.

2nd Logo (September 27, 1987-August 14, 1988)

Logo: On a black background, we see the word "Sandollar" in a script font zooming out. The logo shines. A red line is drawn below.

Technique: 2D animation.

Music/Sounds: The end theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on the TV movie Tidy Endings, and possibly on the 1987 ABC show Dolly.

3rd Logo (September 13, 1990-April 25, 1994)

Logo: Just a simple logo on a black background reading "SANDOLLAR" in a red Gil Sans font.

Variant: Another variant exists with the text "in association with" under the "SANDOLLAR" text.

Technique: None.

Music/Sounds: We hear sounds of ocean waves moving as the end theme plays. On Someone Like Me, the logo is silent.

Availability: Seen on the first two episodes of the 1990-1991 Fox series Babes. The version with the IAW text under the text was once seen on the short-lived NBC-broadcast show Someone Like Me (co-produced by Mohawk Productions for Touchstone Television).

4th Logo (September 27, 1990-September 23, 1991)

Logo: On a background which looks like beach sand, we see the text "SANDOLLAR". Behind the text is an actual sand dollar laying in the sand.

Technique: Computer animation.

Music/Sounds: Sounds of ocean waves mixed with various bird sounds.

Availability: Seen on the final episodes of Babes, the 1990 Dolly Parton special Christmas for Home and Wild Texas Wind.

5th Logo (September 14, 1994-July 16, 2000)

Logo: On a beach sand background, we see a sand dollar rising up from the background. The word "Sandollar" in the same font as the 1986 logo fades in. The word "TELEVISION" fades in below. A spark appears from beneath the text and the sand dollar.

Variant: On Unlikely Angel, "In Association With" (meaning it cuts to The Kushner-Locke Company logo) appears below in a font the same size as the "TELEVISION" text used in this logo.

Technique: CGI animation.

Music/Sounds: Similar sounds from the previous logo, or the end theme of the show. CBS and ABC airings used a generic theme.

Availability: Seen on the short-lived series All-American Girl and the UPN series Social Studies, as well as the 1996 TV movie Unlikely Angel, Tourist Trap, Saturday Night Special and The Pooch and the Pauper.

6th Logo (March 10, 1997-May 19, 2004)

Logo: On a purple metal background, we see the print logo for Kuzui Enterprises on the left, and the print logo for Sandollar Television on the right, much like the previous logo.

Variants:

On season 1 of Angel, the background is a blue gradient, the Greenwolf Corp. logo is seen on the top, and the Kuzui Enterprises and Sandollar Television logos are seen on the bottom.
- Later on seasons 2 and 3 of the show, the Greenwolf Corp. logo is replaced by the David Greenwalt Productions logo.
On the Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 4 premiere "The Freshman", as well as "Living Conditions", "The Harsh Light of Day", "Fear, Itself", and "Beer Bad", the logo (along with the Mutant Enemy logo) is cropped to fit the 16:9 aspect ratio.
Starting with the Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode "Wild at Heart", the logo is horizontally stretched correctly to fit the 16:9 aspect ratio.

Music/Sounds Variants:

Starting with season 6 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the first half of the shortened 1997 TCF Television fanfare plays over this logo.
TeenNick airings of Buffy the Vampire Slayer had a slowed-down version of the Saradipity Productions logo music due to an editing goof.

Availability: Seen on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.

7th Logo (November 22, 2019-)

Logo: On a beach sand background, we see a sand dollar laying in the sand. The text "Sandollar" appears in a bronze serif font and below it was "PRODUCTIONS" which appears in a different font, appears in the sand.

Availability: Seen on Dolly Parton's Heartstrings, Dolly Parton's Christmas on the Square, and Dolly Parton's Mountain Magic Christmas.

Logo: On a black background, we see the text "SOUTHERN LIGHT" in a plain italicized Roman font.

Music/Sounds: The end theme of the TV special.

Availability: Only seen on Dolly Parton's Precious Memories on TNN.

Dixie Pixie Productions

Logo: On a brown brick wall, we see the word "Dixie Pixie Productions" in a fancy font. with the "D" inside was represented by an angel who swung from the letter.
