Background

Shazam is a music recognition service downloadable in many app forms, originally founded in 1999 in the United Kingdom. They did not use an animated logo at the end of a production until 2017. The company was acquired by Apple in 2018.

1st Logo (May 25, 2017-)

Logo: On a blue gradient background, we see two curved lines form the Shazam logo inside a light blue circle. The circle then bounces to the left of the screen to make room for the corporate name in white, which quickly fades in one-by-one.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Music/Sounds: A whoosh sound or none.

Availability: Seen on Beat Shazam on Fox.

2nd Logo (October 26, 2022-)

Logo: We see the Shazam icon in light blue on a solid blue background, but the white parts are absent, leaving the background inside the logo. The stylized "S" then animates like the previous logo to become white, and centers to the screen and transitions into the Shazam app UI.

Trivia: When the logo is pressed halfaway into its animation, the logo and the UI can be bypassed, cutting into the song identifying option.

Variants:

  • Portrait and landscape versions exist.
  • The default settings have the normal light mode UI. If dark mode is enabled, the logo transitions right into the UI in the dark mode look.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Seen when the Shazam app is opened starting with version 13.3.1. This logo—and the feature—was first introduced in Android 12, and was later introduced on the iOS 14 and on the official website. Older versions just cut straight into the UI.
