Background

Sherwood Pictures is an American Christian film production company based in Georgia, USA. It was founded in 2003 by Alexander Kendrick (who would later go on to create Kendrick Brothers in 2013) as a ministry of the Sherwood Baptist Church. Utilizing donations and volunteers from the church, the company has released four films (including one rerelease) starting with Flywheel in 2003. Kendrick has written, directed, and acted in all of the company's films, often collaborating with his brother Stephen.

1st Logo (April 9, 2003)

Visuals: On a black background, a purple light shines through a symbol consisting of an arc with a line below it and a Christian cross. The light pans from right to left, then reverses. At the same time, the text "SHERWOOD PICTURES" in a white serif font zooms in below while the letters slowly space-out.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: The opening theme of the movie.

Availability: Only seen on Flywheel. However it gets plastered by the next logo on modern releases, such as the 2007 DVD.

2nd Logo (September 29, 2006-September 30, 2011)

Visuals: On a dim sky background with some clouds, the camera zooms out from a tilted angle to show the same symbol as before (except now it looks metallic) as it rests to the center of the screen. Then, the text "SHERWOOD PICTURES" in a different white serif font zooms in below while it glows from left to right.

Variants: On Facing The Giants, after the logo is formed, the symbol zooms quickly towards the screen as a transition to the opening scene.

Technique: 3D computer animation.

Audio: None, or the opening theme of the movie.

Audio Variant: On Facing The Giants, the sound of a football game is heard.

Availability: First seen on Facing The Giants and later appeared on Fireproof. The last film to use this logo was Courageous.
