Background
On May 1, 2013, Skydance Media launched a television division, hiring Marcy Ross as division president. Carolyn Harris joined the company as vice president a month later. It didn't use an on-screen logo until 2014.
1st Logo (July 27, 2014-April 29, 2022)
Logo: We see a flash of light that dims to reveal a shortened version of the 2010 film logo, with "TELEVISION" replacing "PRODUCTIONS" and a trademark symbol next to it.
Technique: The flash of light dimming. Like its movie counterpart, it's done by Picturemill.
Music/Sounds: The last four notes of the theatrical logo's fanfare by Pinar Toprak or silence.
Availability: Common. First seen on Manhattan, and was later seen on Grace and Frankie, Ten Days in the Valley, Altered Carbon, and the first two seasons of Condor and Jack Ryan.
Legacy: Even though Skydance updated their movie logo in 2016, this logo continued to be used until its end.
2nd Logo (February 4, 2021-)
Logo: On the same background as the current Skydance Media logo, we see the letters in "SKYDANCE" zooming out. Once they are almost finished zooming, a flash of light draws an arc underneath as "TELEVISION" (in Hurme Geometric Sans 2 Regular font) is seen being wiped in.
Variant: On Foundation, the logo is shortened to the final few seconds.
Technique: The letters zooming out and the flash of light drawing the arc.
Music/Sounds: The final notes of the film logo's fanfare composed by Lorne Balfe, or silence.
Availability: Current.
- First seen on this article on Skydance's website, and debuted with Foundation and later seen on Reacher.
- Don't expect to see this logo on the remainder of Grace and Frankie (starting with "The Raccoon") as it uses the previous logo.
- The version with the theme debuted on The Checkup: With Dr. David Agus.
- This logo is expected to be seen on future shows from the company.
Legacy: The basis of this logo would be later used for its New Media, Interactive and Sports divisions.
