Background

TV Globo, formerly known as Rede Globo is a Brazilian television network. Each night they sign off with a saindo do ar which is Portuguese for "going off the air". Though the Globo no longer truly signs off in the night, it still shows this at midnight as a schedule for the following day.

Bumper (1979-1988?)

Visuals: The Globo logo becomes a circle, and creates a circle of circles, before becoming a rotating cube with a sphere. There is a model of a city shot from many angles, then back to the cube, which transforms back into the Globo Logo and the words REDE GLOBO appear.

Technique: Cel animation and model work.

Audio: A samba theme and announcer. At the end, a chorus sings "Até Amanhã" which is a common way to say "good night" in Brazil.

Availability: The last known time this was seen regularly was January 25, 1988 during the signoff of Globo affiliate Rede Paranaense.
