Sega Channel (page rework)

2nd Logo (December 1994-July 31, 1998)

Variants: There exists two prototype variants of this screen. Both feature slightly different versions of the Mega Drive/Genesis and Sonic animation at the beginning, with a rearranged version of the logo shown at the end.

  • Early Prototype: The sequence begins with the Mega Drive plugged in on the table, but the wallpaper pattern is different, having a lighter and more pronounced shade of blue with multiple triangle shapes facing down sideways repeated in a mirroring pattern. The phone jack also has an added switch in the middle and the red word "CABLE" is shown at the top of it. Sonic then appears running on the table, instead of spinning out and landing on the Mega Drive like on the final release version. He jumps near the jack, and it begins to bulge, and the power spark begins travelling from the cord to the console, where it later spreads around it. The screen then fades to black, and a color-changing 90s-style pattern background fades in, where a black square and rectangle are shown near the center with the borders in an up-down jagged pattern style. Inside the square is a large, red "C" and a small, blue S inside it, with three red streaks shown around the design. In the rectangle is a blue TV shape with a cord followed by the multicolored text "SEGA" above, and the red text "CHANNEL" at the bottom, with multiple streaks surrounding the letters like in the left design. In the background, the first things seen is a teal color with arrows colored in bright green, dark teal, light blue and blue that slightly expand and shrink. It then changes to a red-purple background with two fishes colored yellow and pink, a light purple crab, and a red shark. Afterwards, it changes to a dark red background with multiple green mouths, hands and feet, and later to another dark red background with hot pink stars, exclamation balloons and popping-like streaks. The background sequence repeats over again until the menu of the console appears.

Audio Variants:

  • On the early prototype variant, no music or sounds are heard.
  • On the late prototype variant, the sound effects are different, sounding much simpler, and the jingle comes in earlier than usual.
