WCVE is the primary PBS station in Richmond, Virginia.

1st Logo (Early-Mid 1970s)

Logo: On a white background, we see a curved "WCVE-TV," and below it is a large blue numeral "23."

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: An announcer saying, "This is WCVE channel 23, Richmond, Virginia."

Availability: Extremely extinct. It was used as an early 1970s-dated station ID.

Editor's Note: None.

2nd Logo (1978-1982)

Logo: On a black background, a red "WCVE" slides in, then it fades out and "WCVE" in yellow slides in. Behind it, a red "WCVE" slides in. It fades out and a yellow "WCVE" slides in. Below the it, the text "RICHMOND, VA." fades in. The "VA." shines when that text fades in.

FX/SFX: The sliding, the fading of the text and "VA." shining.

3rd Logo (1982-1986)

Logo: We begin on a black screen. A purple rectangle with a yellow-like outline spins in. Then, a black rectangle with a light outline spins in. The text "A PRESENTATION OF WCVE RICHMOND, VIRGINIA" fades in, then the outline thickens. Then, we fade out.

FX/SFX: The rectangles spinning in, the text fading in, and the outline thickening.

Music/Sounds: Similar to what KVIE and WJCT used in 1980 and 1987, but slightly longer, and slower.
