Background

WGN-TV airing programs in Color from 1967 to 1973.

Opening ID (1967–1973)

Visuals: On a black background, we see the 1960's WGN-TV number "9" colored in white. The number 9 starts to disform it when the 8 colored teardrops come out: 4 of them are in top of the semicircle, and 4 of them are in bottom of the semicircle. All of them are zooming out until the number 9 disforms, the half parts are moving up and down as the word "COLOR" in the Microgramma font pops up. The words "WGN TELEVISION" in the same font appears below it.

Technique: Color animation.

Audio: A 8-note classic theme when the teardrops come out, and then the rest of the classic theme as the "COLOR" pops up.

Availability: Seen on the beginning of WGN-TV color programs from the era.
