WNHT

Background

WNHT was a television station broadcasting on channel 21 in Concord, New Hampshire. It first aired in 1984 as an independent television station, which then sold itself to Thomas Flatley, a real estate developer, for $5 million. The station took a turn and applied itself to CBS in late 1987, and then finally became a CBS affiliate, the second New Hampshire-based network affiliate outside after WMUR-TV of ABC. This affiliation however, didn't turn out to be well as the new newscast failed to draw attention with the 6pm news only has 2,000 viewers tuning in, while WMUR had 51,000; and the slow advertising market of the station to compete with the other stations in the market, such as WNDS and WGOT. And as a result, channel 51 went off the air in March 31, 1989.

1st Logo (1984-1988)

Visuals: Clips of shows which are aired on the station at the time are being showed on the screen, and it then cuts to the periwinkle number "21" sliding to the left on a black background which has colorful stars flying out, with a line behind it. After that, the violet text "You'll find it HERE" wipes in above, with the word "HERE" being underlined, and the white word "WNHT" slides in from the line, with a shine then occuring on it.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: A dramatic tune, with a choir singing: "We're New Hampshire television, we're New Hampshire television, WHNT TV 21. WHNT!".

2nd logo (1988-1989)

Visuals: On a foggy landscape with a tree, the word "YOU'RE WATCHING" is seen the center, then it flips and transitions to the text "WNHT-TV 21" with the word "CONCORD-MANCHESTER" below it.
