Background

ZOO Digital was a UK based publisher of budget priced console and PC games, as well as DVD games. The company was founded in 2000 as Digital Sales by Barry Hatch, who had previously worked in Sales at Gremlin. The following year the company would be renamed to Digital Worldwide. In June 2002, Digital Worldwide was acquired by the ZOO Digital Group and was renamed ZOO Digital Publishing. On March 2004, the company acquired UK developer Hothouse Creations. On April 5th 2006, ZOO Digital Group announced that it was pulling out of the video game market, choosing instead to focus on interactive DVD content. Developer Hothouse was shut down and ZOO Digital Publishing was renamed to ZOO Interactive Video. All of ZOO Digital Group's video game related assets were sold to Barry Hatch for £250,000 and he would immediately re-establish ZOO Digital Publishing as an independent company. Despite the change in focus, ZOO Interactive Video would be closed on October 2006 following disappointing financial performance. After the closure, ZOO Digital Group's founder Ian Stewart would join Barry Hatch at the newly independent company. Despite no longer being in business, the now dormant company has been renamed multiple times by ZOO Digital Group.

1st Logo (2002-2006)

Visuals: On a white or black background is the outlined text "ZOO".

Variants:

  • "Digital Publishing" may be seen below the logo as well.
  • An animated version exists. A green square blinks on a black background before it starts tracing the outside outline of the "ZOO" text. When it finishes, it bounces off the top of the text and falls to the ground, splattering away as the inside parts of "ZOO" fade in. The camera zooms in through the 1st "O".

Technique: A digital graphic. 2D computer animation for the variant.

Audio: None. Chiptune sounds for the animated version.

Availability: Seen on most of their products they distributed, such as Killer 3D Pool for the Game Boy Advance and PAL version of Gadget Racers for the Gamecube.

  • The animated variant is known to have appeared on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire: 2nd Edition for the Game Boy Advance.

2nd Logo (2006-2008)

Visuals: On a white background, the same "ZOO" text from before is seen, but in orange with a black outline. Below it is "Digital Publishing" and their motto "GAMES PEOPLE PLAY" in orange with a right arrow on the left.

Variant: On some games, "Digital Publishing" and their motto is omitted.

Technique: A digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on most of their games they distributed, such as Bigfoot Collision Course for the Wii.
