Background
Absolut Medien GmbH is a German film publisher founded in 1996 and headquartered in Fridolfing, Bavaria. It was created by film distributors from Berlin and Munich to sell German and European film classics in the field of game, experimental and documentary films on VHS and DVD. To this end, Absolut Medien works with partners such as the German-French broadcaster Arte, British Film Institute, Goethe-Institut, CineGraph, Bundesarchiv-Filmarchiv and numerous other German and international festivals and foundations.
Absolut Medien ceased operations at the end of 2023. Part of the programme will be taken over by Grandfilm (Nuremberg).
Logo (2000)
Visuals: The sequence starts off with a starfield background, before some words slide in and some rainbow haze fades in and starts swirling. Some strange objects are shown animating, such as lights, bubbles, and water rippling. A rainbow spiral then unfolds, and stretches, fading out. The objects fade out revealing black words "absolut MEDIEN" in a stacked format on a white background, and the spiral from before, now in orange, settles in the center. The background turns red and the spiral disappears, as the footage wipes out with a reversed raindrop effect. The company's address in white fades in.
Technique: Computer animation.
Audio: Some synth clapping sounds with beeps, segueing into an upbeat electronic fizzing/popping sound. This is followed by a warbling synth and a crash. A reversed glass breaking sound is heard, ending with a dramatic synth chord and an ambient whoosh.
Availability: Seen on a DVD release of Lola and Billy the Kid.
