Background
When Bloomberg TV and Astro's co-operation was dissolved in 2004, the news programming became known as Berita Astro. The program aired in Malay, English, Chinese and Tamil, on its respective channels, Astro Ria, Astro News, Astro AEC and Astro Vaanavil. The program ceased production at the end of January 2007, as Astro Awani, a news channel owned by Astro, launched in Malaysia on September 6, 2007.
Intro (September 29, 2003-January 31, 2007)
Visuals: The first half is similar to Astro News' ident. Against a black background, a bunch of lights flash far from the camera as there are some out-of-focus circles floating around them. Multiple turquoise and fuchsia beams then shoot towards the camera, and the camera flies by them and tilts slightly before stopping to reveal the beams reaching the corner, causing it to flash and magenta beams shoot towards the camera. The camera flies by them again and straightens its view, as Malaysia's state names can be seen moving to the right over the beams. A flash then occurs at the center, causing a black and white rectangle, with the white rectangle being "astro", appears depending on the program's language:
- "berita astro" (for Malay news on Astro Ria)
- "astro news" (for English news on Astro News)
- "astro 华语新闻" (for Chinese news on Astro AEC)
- "astro செய்திகள்" (for Tamil news on Astro Vaanavil)
Technique: CGI produced by Sizzle Video, an Australian motion graphics and media production company.
Audio: There are a few electronic notes, and a woosh. Then, a five-note orchestral tune is heard, followed by a rendition of Astro's five-note jingle from the time. This is the same audio from Astro News' ident.
