Background

Cannon teamed up with German home video label VMP & formed Cannon/VMP Video. It used to release Cannon movies & even a few Carolco movies on video in Germany and nearby regions.

1st Logo (Mid-Late 1980s)

Logo: On a sea green background, we see the VMP logo, in a blocky font, zoom-in and rotate to the center of the screen, with a close-up. The Cannon logo unfolds below, and the logo wipes away clockwise.

Variant: Sometimes, the VMP logo flips forward toward the screen, and the Cannon logo fades onto the screen via particle effects accompanied by a weird "splash" sound.

FX/SFX: The flipping, folding and wiping computer effects.

Music/Sounds: A light synth-rock tune.

Availability: Rare. Seen on German PAL releases of Cannon movies.

2nd Logo (Late 1980s-Early to Mid 1990s)

Logo: On a dark blue background, the two parts of the Cannon logo in silver, rotate and join together in the center, coming from all sides of the screen. The Cannon and VMP logos (but in metallic yellow and in italics, as well as the VMP logo not being split in the middle) them zoom out and the logo shines.

FX/SFX: See above, though the quality feels much better.

Music/Sounds: Twinkling chimes are heard throughout, along with a synth fanfare that sounds like the opening notes of the '70s To Tell The Truth theme song at the beginning, and synth-guitar notes at the end.

Music/Sounds Variant: There is a variation where the synth fanfare is played twice, with the second playing having a different ending.

Availability: Rare. Seen on German and Polish PAL releases of Cannon movies and even a few Carolco movies.
