Background

Cartoon Network Video (unofficial later name: Cartoon Network Home Entertainment) is the home entertainment arm of Cartoon Network.

1st Logo (March 19, 1996-1997)

Visuals: Essentially just the 1992-2004 Cartoon Network logo with the slanted word "Video" below on a black background.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen at the end of Classic Johnny Quest and Classic Scooby-Doo tapes released by Turner Home Entertainment.

2nd Logo (1999-2001?)

Visuals: This logo mostly consists of a full 45 seconds of cartoon mayhem around a colorful construction site (Top Cat pushes a domino, Chicken from Cow and Chicken gets shot out of a cannon, George Jetson gets pinched on the butt and wedgied, Dick Dastardly gets run over by marbles, Dexter from Dexter's Laboratory pulls a lever which could be related to George's butt being pinched and wedgied, and Hong Kong Phooey slides down a tube and bounces off a mattress). At the end, the Cartoon Network logo is revealed from a tube transition, situated on the construction site.

Technique: CGI mixed with recycled animation by Hanna-Barbera Productions and MGM Cartoons.

Audio: An odd tune constantly broken by the characters' antics.

Availability: It appears on Cartoon Network VHS tapes such as their volume sets. It also appears on the 2001 UK VHS of The Iron Giant, presumably serving as a promo for the network.

3rd Logo (March 22-September 27, 2016)

Visuals: Essentially just the 2010 Cartoon Network logo on a black background.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: It appears on DVDs of seasons 3 and 4 of Courage the Cowardly Dog.

4th Logo (December 7, 2021-)

Visuals: On a cyan background with black and white dots is the 2010 Cartoon Network logo zooming in.

Trivia: This logo is based on Cartoon Network's "Swirl" era from 2019-2021.

Technique: 2D digital animation.

Audio: A soft synth version of the 2010 CN mnemonic, composed by Kelly Meador and Daniel Elwing.

Availability: Seen on DVD releases of Rick and Morty, Aqua Teen Hunger Force: The Baffler Meal Complete Collection, Ed, Edd n Eddy: The Complete Series, and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends: The Complete Series, among others.
