Background

Cascadia Entertainment was a Canadian home video distributor. They are known for releasing a large number of rare films on DVD. Despite the rarity of the films they released, Cascadia developed a negative reputation for the poor image and sound quality of their releases (which they claimed were 'remastered'). This led Cascadia to begin releasing more common public domain films, which were available in better quality. The company eventually changed its name to Digital Disc, and their division Cascadia Labs became DDC Labs. Digital Disc continued to release films for several years, but did not reissue any films that had been released by Cascadia. Digital Disc closed in the late 2000s.

Logo (Early 2000s-Late 2000s)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a red light beaming behind a golden maple leaf with red sides, looking much like the one on the Canadian flag. The leaf then "spins" once and zooms out, as well as giving out a afterimage which zooms in as the light dies out. The leaf then quickly moves to the right and the left half disappears via a grid effect, with the other half forming the logo, half of a slanted, gold maple leaf. The text "CASCADIA ENTERTAINMENT" then fades in next to the logo in a stacked position.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A kinda ominous synth theme, then a gliss as the maple leaf italicizes.

Availability: Seen on DVDs from this outfit such as Abraxas and Laser Mission. Check Amazon.ca or eBay.
