Background

On October 1, 2002, Nippon Columbia Co., Ltd. was officially remained as Columbia Music Entertainment, Inc. (コロムビアミュージックエンタテインメント株式会社, Koromubia Myūjikku Entateinmento Kabushiki kaisha), ending their 55 year name usage. On October 1, 2010, 8 years after its name change, it was announced that they reverted back to its previous name coinciding with the centennial of the company's founding in 1910.



1st Logo (2002-2009)

Visuals: On a black background, a line is drawn to reveal a white background surrounded by lines on the bottom and a half-circle spinning on the right. On the left, there's a blue circle and the words "Music" on the right. Suddenly, the circle slides to the right to reveal "Entertainment" on the left and the circle moves back to the left to reveal "Columbia". In the end, the circle reveals the trademark "Magic Notes" logo with the words "Music Entertainment" now stacked on the "Columbia" text.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: A guitar tune.

Availability: Seen on all VHS (until 2006) and DVD releases by the company for most of the period, including NHK Video releases. It also appears on early Blu-ray releases since 2007.
