Compañía OXXO
Cattotld
Background
Oxxo (stylized as OXXO) is a Mexican chain of convenience stores and gas stations. The company is the largest chain of convenience stores in Latin America, with over 21,000 stores, mostly across Mexico, with other subsidiaries in the United States and other countries in Latin America.
The company started its video rental business in the 1990s, with videos sold on the stores being distributed under the generic OXXO brand.
1st Logo (Mid 1990s)
![](/w/thumb.php?f=Compania_OXXO_%2890s%29.png&width=300)
Visuals: On a black background, a camera zooms out from a white bar with green, red, and blue stripes. It reveals a bar being ribbon-shaped at the end and a silver word "OXXO" with the upper side of the "XX" part being extended and each part spinning, as well as the golden words "COMPAÑÍA OXXO" in an arc below. The flags of Mexico and United States slide in from left & right above, fading out afterwards.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: A warped deep synth note, followed by a new-age synth pad tune and another deep synth note with drumbeats.
Audio Variant: Sometimes, an upbeat chime and bass tune with a chirp is heard, followed by a synth trumpet score and ending with an orchestral synth theme.

2nd Logo (Late 1990s)
![](/w/thumb.php?f=Compania_OXXO_%2890s%2C_2%29.png&width=300)
Visuals: The sequence starts off with a man wearing a some sort of hijab talking to his mom on the phone, with a logo (a modified version of the logo from before, now on a black background with a white rectangle and the gray words "MEXICO-AMERICA" with a line sandwiched between) in the background. The man soon hangs up and the footage flies away and dices itself, revealing the logo.
Technique: Live-action and CGI.
Audio: A portion of State of the World by Janet Jackson, along with a man saying "¿Bueno? ¿Qué? ¿Quieres que te preste dinero? Sí, claro que te lo presto. Con un 10% de interés. Semanalmente. Sí, en el banco te prestan efectivo mensualmente, luego vas al banco y no me molestas. Bueno, si no vuelves a casa, no te daré nada, ¿okay?. Ciao, mamá, te quiero mucho.". After he hangs up, he says "Las cosas que hace mi mamá para rentar una película en Oxxo, las mejores películas mexicanas.". A clang is heard afterwards, followed by the aforementioned song repeating.
