Background

DCM Film Distribution is a German film distribution company founded in 2008 by Dario Suter, Christoph Daniel, and Marc Schmidheiny.[1]

1st Logo (February 5, 2015-July 7, 2016)

Visuals: On a black background, a white radial light shines clockwise, unveiling a gold-black oval-shaped wireframe globe. The border disappears and the land morphs into a gold cube with a long isosceles triangle cut through its upper right. The object turns to face the screen. Then, the light returns to rotate in the same direction, this time unveiling "dcm" in a rounded font and white border. The light swings back and shrinks back into the square box.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: None.

Availability: The logo is seen on 300 Worte Deutsch and Ferien.

2nd Logo (February 23, 2017-September 26, 2019)

Visuals: On a black background, two lights shine from behind a square box before striking the centre and resulting in multi-colored lights, predominantly blue, to float around and fade in and out. Later, an orange light shining to the right wipes in and the box from before zooms out, aligning with said light and masking the blue lights. "dcm", also from before, is paired with the box as it zooms out. Then, the logo elements, in a reflective texture, shine, become gold, and shine horizontally. The point of the triangular mask shines and makes the logo nearly white.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A soft and soothing piano piece plays alongside a humming string background track. The first and second half for the piano track is set at a low and high pitch respectively.

Availability: The logo is seen on Bibi & Tina: Perfect Pandemonium and Get Lucky.

3rd Logo (August 5, 2021-)

Visuals: On a red background, a black silhouette of a male figure walks in from the right, holding a white ball. He tosses it to the ground, forming a hole. After looking around for a brief period, he leaps into the hole, making a small splash, and rises out. This causes the hole to morph into "DCM". The "C" and "M" are to the "D"'s right and bottom respectively.

Technique: Flash animation.

Audio: A mix of chime notes play, which are later by a humming chorus. When the logo forms, a rising synth stinger plays.

Availability: The logo is seen on German-distributed prints of Fabian: Going to the Dogs, Monte Verità: Der Rausch der Freiheit, and Sisi & I.
