Background

Disneynature (also spelled "Disney Nature" in some Disney press releases) is a production banner of Walt Disney Pictures established in 2008 to produce nature documentary films. Its first release was Earth which premiered in cinemas on Earth Day, April 22, 2009, but their logo was first seen in 2008, on their website.

Logo (April 22, 2008-)

Visuals: It starts with a fade in to a silhouette of the Cinderella/Sleeping Beauty Castle from the 2006 and 2022 Walt Disney Pictures logos carved into an iceberg, in a polar setting all black. Then, the view becomes lighter as the castle-shaped iceberg is now more easily visible. "DiSNEYnature" (with "DiSNEY" in its signature font based on the 2006-2022 Walt Disney Pictures logo and "nature" in Trade Gothic Extended) wipes-in.

Variant: In 2018, the words "CELEBRATING 10 YEARS" appear underneath the company name in trailers and TV spots for Penguins, as well as the company's 10th anniversary video. The current Disneynature website has the company name shifted upwards to fit the page's style. Furthermore, the company name and castle is also shown in the iPad app, Disneynature Explore in the loading screen (the company name is also shown in the start screen.).

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Some wind chimes and chanting, then a woodwind/string fanfare. Composed by Mark Mancina, who also composed the 2006 Walt Disney Pictures logo.

Availability: As the name suggests, this banner releases films pertaining to the environment.

  • This logo was first seen on the Disneynature website, and appeared on all of the company's releases since then, such as Earth (its debut on filmography), Penguins and Polar Bear.
  • It's also intact on Hulu's print of March of the Penguins 2: The Next Step (a Disneynature film that they only distributed in France while Hulu distributed it in the United States).
