Background

Emgeeyaar Pictures Limited was an Indian film company based in the state of Tamil Nadu founded by the actor and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Marudhur Gopalan Ramachandran, popularly known by the acronym M. G. R..

1st Logo (August 22, 1958)

Visuals: We see a side view of a statue of two men both holding a black-red flag, with the company name on top of a pedestal, which is covered in shadows. The shadows disappear and the statue rotates, revealing the front of the statue and the company name.

Trivia: The flag is from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), a Tamil social democratic political party in which M. G. R. was a member for 20 years before founding his own party, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), in 1972.

Technique: Live-action model work.

Audio: A majestic horn fanfare.

2nd Logo (May 1, 1968-May 11, 1973)

Visuals:

• Segment 1: The first segment shows the pedestal rotating slightly to the left on the darkness, to reveal the logo that looks the same as before: the same statue of the men holding the flag, and the company name below, but now in color. Once the logo is revealed on frontal view, petals are thrown at the pedestal, the flag raises and the camera zooms to the flag. The flag shown is the AIADMK flag (similar-looking to the DMK one, but with bust of C. N. Annadurai, an acclaimed Dravidian politician, in the middle).
• Segment 2: We then cut into a picture of Indian man on a throne with red curtains. We zoom closer to the throne, and petals are thrown at it.
• Segment 3: We then cut into the state of Annadurai as we zoom out from it. The camera also pans and petals are also thrown at it. A red Tamil text then appears on the screen.

Trivia: In the third segment of the logo, the text "கடமை, கண்ணியம், கட்டுப்படு", which in Tamil means "Duty, Dignity, Discipline", is a motto created by Annadurai which soon became a "universal" slogan of Dravidian political parties.

Variants:

• In Adimai Penn, the logo gets more brighter when the flag raises on the first segment and after the Tamil text appears on the third segment. The background of the first segment also has a green light spot.
• In Ulagan Sutrum Valiban, the background of the first segment is in a blue/red gradient, making it brighter than the version from the former movie. There are no brightness changing effects.

Technique: Practical effects.

Audio: A triumphant fanfare on the first segment. A rhythmic Indian theme with a man making a speech on the second segment. A sitar-led theme on the third segment.
