Background

Hollywood Pictures Home Entertainment (formerly "Hollywood Pictures Home Video") was the home entertainment arm of Hollywood Pictures that was established in 1990 by Buena Vista Home Video to distribute all of the company's releases on video.

Logo (1991-September 25, 2012)

Visuals: On a black background, a blue moon glows behind an object, as the glowing line increases to reveal the object as the famous Egyptian sphinx. The light dies down to a circle behind the logo, as three lines (resembling as steps) fade in below the logo, and below them is the text "HOLLYWOOD PICTURES". "H O M E V I D E O" (later "HOME ENTERTAINMENT") is added below and the lines are shorter to fit the width of "HOLLYWOOD PICTURES". Also, it's videotaped.

Variants:

On the 2002 VHS reissue of Tombstone (released to coincide with the film's DVD release) as well as the 2002 VHS reprint of Dead Presidents, the words "HOME ENTERTAINMENT" are smaller and are arranged the same as on the Home Video variant. The animation also appears to be based on the widescreen variant of the film logo, and has an updated version of the light-to-circle animation, with the golden outline of the circle fading in faster (making this variant similar to the prototype 2002 Touchstone Home Entertainment logo).
On some British releases, the word "PRESENTS" in blue and in Optima font appears below the logo. There are also "Coming Soon" and "Also Available" variants.

Availability:

Seen on Hollywood Pictures releases on VHS in the 1990s such as Super Mario Bros., Tombstone, While You Were Sleeping, The Rock and White Squall.
The Home Entertainment variant can be seen on DVDs and Blu-rays, even after the film company's terminations in 2001 and 2007.
The first videos from the label, like Arachnophobia and Taking Care of Business, had no proper disclaimer and just went straight to the previews.
On international DVD releases of Die Hard With a Vengeance, this appears before the DVD menu, despite the fact that the Touchstone Home Entertainment print logo is on the cover and the disc artwork.
It makes an appearance on the UK DVD release of What About Bob?, a Touchstone Pictures film.
The Home Video variant can be seen on some early international DVDs (such as those being distributed by Warner Home Video in Australia) and is intact on their Home Entertainment label reprints (e.g. the region 4 DVDs of While You Were Sleeping and The Hand That Rocks the Cradle).
In the UK, this was seen up until the late 90s on VHS releases of some Miramax Films and Dimension Films titles, such as Beautiful Girls, The Crossing Guard, The Prophecy, Scream 3 and Rumble in the Bronx, among others. This also appeared on the UK DVD release of Scream.
The Home Video variant appeared on the 2003 Australian DVD release of G.I. Jane, despite the company name being changed to Hollywood Pictures Home Entertainment at that point.
The final release with this logo was the 2012 Blu-ray release of Arachnophobia.
