Background

InterVideo was one of the most important Anglo-Hungarian-owned film publishing companies of the VHS era around the change of regime, and was one of the first to be set up by a Hungarian jeweler who had returned from London in the summer of 1988, with capital from various state-owned companies and private investors. He put his business partner, János Fenyő, who had returned from Los Angeles, as the CEO's chair. The managing director was Ferenc Bartha. The film acquisition was handled by Ágnes Havas, who is now the director of the Hungarian National Film Fund. Soon afterwards, Fenyő separated Vico from the group and started his own video distribution business. The company continued its activities until 1992.
