1st Logo (Late 1970s?-1984)
Visuals: On a space background, a shot of the spinning planet Earth is shown at the top left corner. Atoms draw around the planet, and a red grid flies and lands from the left side to the Earth. As this happens, an orange circle with two curves zooms in and spins, and the text "K-TEL" vertically wipes in below the circle. Afterwards, the text "VIDEO" zooms out and flies from the right side to the bottom side of the previous text. Finally, the text "PRESENTS" vertically wipes in.
Technique: Cel animation.
Audio: None.
Availability: The logo was spotted in American video tapes, such as Breakdance: You Can Do It.
2nd Logo (1982-1984)
Visuals: On a black background, a blue light fades in at the middle, and streaks streak through the light, forming a curve. The curve spins, a crescent shape shifts to the left side of the curve, and an oval shifts to the right side of the curve. The oval forms a circle with two curved lines, reflecting that of the letter "K". The circle with the K zooms out, and the text "K-TEL VIDEO" horizontally wipes in next to the circle afterwards, as changing lights, resembling that of a marquee, appear above and below the text. The text sparkles horizontally seven times, and a final sparkle to the opposite direction.
Technique: Cel animation.
Audio: A rising synth drone.
Availability: The logo is available for the very first VHS release of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, among others.
