Pathé Vidéo
Background
Pathé Vidéo is the French home media division of Pathé.
1st Logo (1980s-1991?)
Visuals: On a blue/white background, the letters in "PATHE VIDEO" appear from different spots. Two white lines appear on the top and bottom of the text. At the bottom, the word "Présente" appears in a scripted font.
Technique: Simple computer effects.
Audio: None.
Availability: Appears on French VHS tapes, examples include Uranus and Saturnin et la fée pas comme les autres (Une fée... pas comme les autres).
2nd Logo (1992-1999)
Visuals: On a black background, "un selection de" appears under a yellow line as it appears appears and the text fades as the yellow line slowly turns into a sunrise. Dark blue and red streaks come from the bottom of the sun, forming a rooster. Once it appears, the sun disappears, leaving a yellow rectangle surrounding the rooster, with "PATHÉ" written under it, and a small yellow line, "VIDÉO" is seen under the line. After a few seconds, the rectangle flips out vertically.
Trivia: This is a modified version of the 7th Pathé Logo with the chryoned text "un selection de" and "VIDÉO" added in.
Variants:
- 1992-1997?: Pathé/Chargeurs variant exists. Here, the rectangle does not flip out. Instead, it flips vertically, turning into a star. It zooms and the formation of Chargeurs' logo begins.
- 1997?-1999: For the later releases, the Chargeurs byline is removed, with the Pathé Logo animation altered to where it doesn't proceed to the Chargeurs Logo.
- On some rare occasions, the Zooming in Trailer Variant of the Pathé logo is used as an de-facto Home Video Logo.
Technique: Possibly cel animation (by Digital Pictures).
Audio: A short synthesized fanfare, followed by a dreamy synth/piano tune.
Audio Variants:
- The Later Variant, the piano portion of the theme is removed.
- For the Zooming In Trailer Variant, it's silent.
Availability: Appears on French VHS tapes released at the time, such as A River Runs Through It, Queen Margot, Tom and Jerry: The Movie (1992), and Last of the Dogmen. Later Pathé releases use the standard logo. The De-facto Variant of the Pathé logo can be seen on an UK Rental VHS of The Fifth Element VHS from 1998, distributed by Guild and a few 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment VHS from 1992 to 1998 with the Logo being played before the Pathé logo. Later VHS Releases would however lack it.
3rd Logo (1999-)
Visuals: It's just the 8th Pathé logo with no video indication whatsoever.
Technique: Same as the 8th Pathé logo.
Audio: The audio from the 8th Pathé logo.
Availability: It appeared on both VHS and DVD Releases of Chicken Run, along with other titles from Pathé.
