Background
Pearson Television Video (or PT Video) was the home video subsidiary of Pearson Television, formed in 1998 from the merger of Pearson New Entertainment and Thames Video. Following the rebranding of Pearson Television into FremantleMedia, PT Video was rebranded as Fremantle Home Entertainment in 2002.
Logo (1998-2002)
Visuals: On a moving purple background, there is a circular light moving from the logo. Then the shape of a cube with text cut-out: "P" on the left side, "T" on the right side, and "VIDEO" on the bottom right of the cube, appears. The logo brightens, as the cube turns blue with pink and green hues, which then glows brighter. The byline "A Division of Pearson Television International Ltd" fades in below the cube.
Technique: CGI animation.
Audio: An echoey clang is heard just before the logo fades in, and while a single synth pad note plays, what sounds like a jet engine accelerating can be heard.
Availability:
- Appears on VHS and DVD releases of Thames Television material, such as Adventures on Button Moon, and also the very first DVD release of The BFG.
- It also appears on the 2000 UK VHS releases of The Original Sooty Show: Wet and Wild Water Fun and Chorlton and the Wheelies: Chorlton Gets His Wheels.
- It also appears on Prism Leisure-distributed releases as well.
- However, it does not appear on the 2001 UK VHS reissue of The Wind in the Willows: Autumn Antics, which uses the Thames Video Collection logo instead, due to it reusing the 1988 VHS master.
