Blizzard Entertainment was founded on February 8, 1991 by Michael Morhaime, Allen Adham, and Frank Pearce as "
Silicon & Synapse". It had to be renamed to its current name in 1994 shortly after being sued by
Interplay Entertainment. In July 2008, it merged with
Activision to become Activision Blizzard, but it still remains a subsidiary of it.
