Background

Replay Video was a British video company that was associated with video label/distributor Video Programme Distributors (or VPD for short). They became infamous for releasing the video nasties Cannibal Apocalypse, Cannibal Ferox, and The Last House on the Left.

Logo (1982-1984)

Visuals: There are four coloured trails, one red, pink, yellow, and blue, descend from the corners of the screen. They collide in the middle and the word "REPLAY" is formed in block font, along with the word "Video" in script underneath it. The logo flashes a bright white, and the words "THE NEW FORCE IN HOME VIDEO ENTERTAINMENT" expand upward from the bottom and appear below the script.

Technique: Appears to be Scanimate.

Audio: As the coloured trails appear, two synthesised crescendos are heard, one after the other. A synth fanfare is heard when the logo flashes, with a few synth organ notes right after it. The fanfare continues after the "New Force" text appears, and ends with a drum roll. Every bit of this music was made on a synthesiser, even the drum roll.

Audio Variant: On the original UK pre-cert release of Kentucky Fried Movie, the logo is silent.

Availability:

  • Only on tapes from the pre-cert era released by Replay.
  • Some releases that this logo can be seen on include Kentucky Fried Movie, The Rogue and Grizzly and Gone in 60 Seconds.
