Stardust

1st Logo (1985-1990)

Visuals: The screen fades to a pre-9/11 view of New York City at night. Then, in the top right corner, a star shines in the sky, and it immediately turns into a "shooting star" with a trail of stars behind it. As it reaches the center left of the screen, two spinning 3D triangle outlines fly towards the center (along with the "shooting star" which turns a greycolor as it covers the entire screen), and then these triangles create an upside-down triangle, with the smaller triangle in the center of the bigger triangle. As this triangle zooms out to the center of the screen, the greybackground turns into a night sky. After that, a red laser writes "STARDUST" and then a yellow neon line flashes under it to reveal "P R O D U C T I O N" (with a space between each letter, so that the two words are justified).Finally, a sparkle appears in the top right corner of the triangle, and then the downward corner, and then the top right corner again, before the logo fades out to black.

Technique: Cel animation and CGI.

Audio: An 80s-sounding synthesizer piece, with a rocket launch noise when the "shooting star" flies, a few laser noises when "STARDUST" is written, and a flash-sounding noise when "PRODUCTION" is revealed, which is "Technoholic #1" by Geoff Bastow.

Availability: Appears on early releases by this company from the era, such as their Italian VHS releases of The Transformers and Jem.

2nd Logo (1990-1995)

Visuals: The logo starts off in the same city as before, but when the shooting star appears, a yellow star outline flips and zooms in with a trailing effect. It rests in the center while the trails clear out to a space background. "STARDUST" comes in with a trail effect, circling around the star before resting at an angle.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: Same as before.

Availability: Seen on releases from this era. Notable entries were the Italian releases of later cases of Jem, G.I. Joe, Glo Friends, Moon Dreamers, The Transformers, public domain cartoons of Looney Tunes and Superman, Tom and Jerry, Batman, Little Wizards, Heidi, My Pet Monster, Saber Rider and The Star Sheriffs, as well as various other dubs of anime.

3rd Logo (1995-2001?)

Visuals: On a starry background with what appears to be a blanket of fog on the bottom, there is a moon. 2 stars, one red and the other yellow, come in and swirl around the moon as it zooms towards it. They come with contact into it, releasing stars from the moon. The moon then turns dark blue and a partial ring is drawn with a light. A burst of stars brightens up the background and causes a star similar to the one before, but with the inside being hot pink, to fade in. A banner with the text before is then wiped in and the star and text shine. The background zooms in and reveals a house in which the camera zooms into. The sequence then fades to a room with a boy and girl resting on a bed together reading a book. The screen then cuts to a shot where the book glows and turns into a roller coaster train as the kids gaze in surprise. A shot of the roller coaster train is seen as a flash of light transforms the room into space. The train then goes onto a track made from colored bars in various shots. Various storybook characters then hop onto the back cars of the train and continue onward through animated adaptations of other stories like The Jungle Book and other titles in the background. The screen then cuts to one last shot of the boy, girl, and characters before cutting to a shot of a tunnel with "Children's Classics" flashing pink on a ark of lights that leads to a rainbow-filled void. The screen zooms and rotates, before zooming into the void as the Stardust logo zooms in and the same background, though with sparkles around the logo and is closer to the blanket of fog.

Trivia: The animated sequence (except the logo animation at the start and the end) is the opening for GoodTimes' "Children's Classics" videotapes. It was also adapted in various other countries in the world.

Technique: 2D computer animation and cel animation by Jetlag Productions.

Audio: A clanging is heard at first, which followed by the sound of lasers and a dreamy piano is then heard. A majestic synth tune is then heard for the forming of the logo. A fantasy theme is heard for the short movie which ends with a "DING".
