The Multimedia Group of Canada
Background
Created in 1981 in Montréal, The Multimedia Group of Canada (Le Groupe Multimédia du Canada in French) is a Canadian home video and television distributor. From 1985 to 1989, the company (as Multimédia Audiovisuel) introduced a home video brand called Le Vidéo Club d'Amérique (or VCA). In 1989, this brand was dropped as Multimédia Audiovisuel adopted its current name.
Le Groupe Multimédia du Canada/The Multimedia Group of Canada
1st Logo (1989-2000)
Visuals: On a black background, there are 16 golden squares zooming out and flipping. Then, they combine together to create a giant, tilted, golden square with the upper corner colored black which contains the following text in red, aligned like this:
THE
MULTIMEDIA
GROUP OF CANADA
The text is in the MGC corporate font.
Variant: French-language VHS tapes have the same logo, but the words turn from French to English via a shining effect.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: A synth pound noise with a distorted electronic beeping, followed by a gong crash and a sparkling chime.
Availability: Seen on some VHS releases from MGC (except those from MGC Home Video), such as Livrofolie. If you want to see this logo, you'd better look for tapes that have this logo at your library.
2nd Logo (1990s)
This logo is currently missing in action. Please do not add reconstructions of the logo if any exist, as they are likely not accurate to the actual logo. Additionally, do not attempt to add a finalized description of the logo until it has been found in its entirety. |
Visuals: On a black background, there is a green diamond zooming out and plastering itself on the center. The words "THE MULTIMEDIA GROUP OF CANADA" are on the diamond aligned like this:
THE
MULTIMEDIA
GROUP OF CANADA
and are in the MGC corporate font.
Variant: French-language VHS tapes have the same logo, but the words turn from French to English.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: A peaceful harmony tune. On early VHS releases, this tune is replaced with a twelve note electronic tune.
Availability: It can be seen on some other tapes from this company. [Examples?]
GMC Home Video
