Background

The Video Bancorp was an American adult video and public domain distribution company based in Canoga Park, California. Little is known about this company due to the scarcity of its products. In Portugal, Visa Video served as the distributor of their tapes in the country. The company closed down in 1990 and is believed to have lasted for no more than five years. They focused on adult content with cartoons also in their lineup. Among it was The Best of Popeye, a VHS with three public domain Popeye cartoons, in which one copy was recorded on a hardcore pornographic film, resulting in controversy and even a local news article when a mother who bought the tape at a dollar store found this out.

Visuals: On a white square, there is a tricolor line with red, white, and blue near the top of it. Above it is the crimson words "the Video bancorp", with the "V" being much larger and drawn with one of the digital brushes. Below it is "thanks you for using our product" in the same bold/italic font. All this appears to be taken from a shot of the logo in the program it was created in (seemingly either Publisher's Paintbrush 1.x or PC Paintbrush 3.x), complete with the interface and the edge of the monitor peeking from a random side.

Variant: Several screens of "Math Refreshers" exist featuring basic math equations that would play between cartoons, with "the Video bancorp" and the red and blue lines on top from the standard logo. The currently known equations are 2+2=4, 2x2=4, 3-1=2, 5+2=7, and 4-2=2.

Technique: Live-action. A camera was used to point in front of a computer monitor.

Audio: None.

Availability: This was seen on the end of tapes by the company, such as the aforementioned The Best of Popeye.

Since some Visa Video releases in Portugal use masters originally taken from The Video Bancorp releases, this logo can be found on those releases as well.
The Math Refreshers were seen in between some cartoons, including a Tweety Bird compilation titled Piu-Piu e os Amigos.

Legacy: Due to its cheap appearance, it has been considered one of the worst logos ever made among the community.
